well after the recent demise of the universally loathed mac,the sights have now been turned on the also universally loathed edl,after a weekend that saw 179 of england’s dumbest layabouts finest being locked up for fighting in a pub,people are suggesting that maybe it’s time that they to are outlawed,but would this really solve anything,of course if it happened tommy could take the hint and fuck off,but can you really see that happening,all that would happen is that they would either reform under a different name or scarier still go underground.I don’t know about you but I like my stupid,deluded racists where I can see them,as it stands they’re not a threat,most of this great country loathe them and see them for what they are,the likes of the excellent expose ,hope not hate and such regularly show them up for what they are,they provide the world with ample evidence that they’re not just against extremists but muslims in general,don’t get me wrong I would like my kids to grow up in a world where there was no groups like mac,edl or the kkk,but as they are here I would like them to be fully visable,so I can show my children what racism is and why it is bad,if they go underground I fear this would make them more popular amongst the thick and the dissafected who are looking for people to blame for their problems,they would in their eyes become the “persecuted” they already claim to be,the problem with banning them is that we live in a country that has free speech,if we criminalise the edl,all we are doing is making a rod for our own backs,I say let them speak,give them all the airtime they want,because they spout such outrageous bs that they’ll take all the rope given and promptly hang themselves (not in a literal sense wouldn’t want anyone to think that I’m encouraging them to kill themselves),anyone who disagrees with me on this only has to research interviews already conducted with members of the edl,question time,george galloway’s talk show etc,etc.but take away their right to speak and you take away their biggest weakness,the fact that wen questioned on or confronted with any evidence that contradicts their beliefs they crumble and resort to the abuse or excuses we’ve already seen.so while of course the edl are loathable,at least we can prove that they’re loathable and hopefully can save at least a few people from placing their loyalty with a drug taking convicted criminal with no more interest in them than in obeying the law of the country he claims to love and “protect”
